Series 56.
Firmly established. Intuitive and reliable.
Launched by EAO in 1996, the Series 56 door opening push button has revolutionised passenger transport. It is also enormously valued by passengers and railway employees.
The Series 56 can do this.
The click at the pressure point.
The characteristic click (mechanical pressure point) is the trademark of the successful Series 56 push button, along with the robust door opening push button itself, the indicators, the individually programmable multi-tone sound modules, the warning flashing beacons and the unique lever switches. They can all be operated intuitively and reliably.
In addition to its very high mechanical and electrical durability, the door opening push button offers impressive reliability. You can also have EAO customise it for your applications. In addition, there are various mounting options, and the push button can be mounted on the front and rear as well as on glass.
The high-quality plastic front bezels are available in black, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, dark grey and light grey to match your design. Alternatively, the front bezels are also available in aluminium.
The Series 56 door opener is ideal for use in passenger access systems and toilet facilities in trains, trams and underground trains, buses, ships, lifts and for escalators and call for aid terminals.

Functions Series 56.
Door opening push button.
Firmly established. Intuitive and reliable.
Millions of instances in use worldwide: Series 56 door opening push buttons prove their reliability on a daily basis, including under extreme climatic conditions. They are known for their tactile, acoustic and optical feedback, timeless design, and flawless function.
Typical applications
- Passenger access
- Control units for toilet facilities in public transport
- Lifting and hoist systems
The wide range fulfils all needs. You benefit from the extensive selection of lenses, front bezels, connecting cables, and mounting possibilities – on the front or rear, or on glass. The front bezels and inserts are made from plastic and anodised aluminium.
Advantages
- Unique tactile feedback
- Exceptional long-term reliability
- Wide product range
- Simple integration through mounting options
- Individually customisable
- Flush or raised lens
- Symbols are compliant with TSI PRM
- Front bezels with braille
- Ring illumination with 8 green and 2 red LEDs (standard version)
Indicator.
Status display made easy.
Series 56 indicators are often used for their optical status indication in the direct vicinity of train doors. In the passenger space, these intuitive indicators can signal whether the toilet facilities are free or occupied.
The indicators offer many configuration variants, from bright, homogenous illumination in red, yellow, blue, white or green, to combination with flush or raised, hemispherical lenses. This means symbols or texts with up to three lines can be displayed intuitively and reliably. The indicator offers a valuable front- or rear-mounting option.
Advantages
- Clearly visible, bright and homogenous illumination
- Five illumination colours (red, yellow, blue, white or green)
- Various standard symbols
- Text with up to three lines
- Flush or raised, semi-spherical lenses.
- Front or rear mounting
Lever switch.
Security locked in.
Series 56 lever switches are fantastic for secure locking of doors and toilet facilities in your trains. The robust design of the large anodised aluminium lever, with two switch positions (switch function: zero – lock) ensures operation that is as simple as it is secure.
Advantages
- Robust lever
- Two switching positions
- Actuating force of 6 to 9 newtons
- Switching function: 0 – maintain
- Switching angle of 45°
Multi-Tone Sound Modules.
Warnings that get heard.
It grabs attention: Multi-Tone Sound Modules (MTSM) alert people to potential hazard situations with acoustic warnings. In this area, EAO offers you a product with a volume level that automatically adjusts to the environmental noise, for example when closing automatic doors in trains.
At the same time, automatic adjustment of output volume of the self-adjusting MTSM significantly reduces noise pollution. The module can be programmed in line with your preferences, to send unique warning signals to the places of application. The Multi-Tone Sound Module can either be front- or rear-mounted, and optionally on glass.
Advantages
- Fixed or automatically adjusted volume output according to ambient noise
- Compact design
- Easy-to-customise tone sequences
- Standard tone sequences pre-programmed (e.g. as per TSI PRM)
- Maximum IP69K front protection
Flashing warning beacon.
Excellent all-round visibility.
LED flashing warning beacons are a useful addition to the successful Series 56. In public buildings and public transport, such as trains and buses, this indicator reliably warns of system errors or closing doors.
Thanks to the special design and bright LEDs, the flashing warning beacon itself is also clearly visible from all angles in strong sunlight. The wide selection of front bezels, made from metal or plastic in various colours, enable diverse combination options when specifying the indicator for the corresponding application.
Advantages
- All-round visible LED flash (180°)
- Visibility ensured even in daylight
- Flashing frequency of 1 Hz (1 flash/sec)
- Diverse combination options
Universal switch.
Reliable, intuitive and tactile.
Perfect for public buses and coaches: the Series 56 universal switch is quickly visible from all locations thanks to its clever LED illumination, large operation area, various front bezel colours, and laser symbols. Combined with a distinctive click, this intuitive button offers excellent user comfort.
Typical applications
- Public buses and coaches
- Building technology and infrastructure
- Machinery
Multi-sensory feedback
Green illumination signals that the universal switch is ready to use. As soon as the switch is pressed, the operator receives multi-sensory feedback by means of the acoustic and tactile click and the clearly visible red LEDs (in addition to the green illumination).
Standard or customer-specific laser symbols
You can have various standard, ISO 7000, or specific symbols lasered onto the grey anodised symbol inserts in black. The design can be implemented quickly and easily depending on the application, combined with various front bezel colours. There is also the option of adding lenses without symbols.
Advantages
- Intuitive operation thanks to visual and tactile feedback
- Large operation area and various front bezel colours
- Low back panel depth (27 mm incl. M8 x 1 standard connector)
- Long, reliable service life (> 5 million cycles of operation)
- Standard, ISO 7000 or customer-specific laser symbols
