The doors open, and the passenger boards. He looks for an empty seat and stows his luggage. Moments later, their smartphone is naturally connected to a charging solution. What sounds like everyday life on the train is, in reality, a series of interactions between people and machines.

A mock-up for all the senses and interfaces

In a replica train, EAO takes InnoTrans visitors on a journey through various HMI applications. “After all, it’s only in a real-world environment that you can determine whether a button’s height, pressure point, and haptic feedback are truly appropriate,” explains David Kramer, Head of Corporate Marketing at EAO. From the doors to the seat reservation system to the Driver's cab—EAO’s expertise is evident in nearly every area of the train. For train manufacturers and operators, this means fewer interfaces and less coordination effort.

Access via Human-Machine Interaction

The first interaction with a machine begins right at the door. Sound output is an important orientation aid, especially for people with visual impairments or limited mobility. With the new Universal Sound Module, EAO presents a solution with integrated sound generation that reliably alerts passengers and improves perception in various environments. 

Those who miss the legendary clicking sound will be well-served by the third-generation Series 56 push button. A new, future-proof electronic architecture ensures long-term availability and reliable performance.

Passenger convenience is a must

The story behind finding an empty seat on a train can sometimes be a hassle. Overcrowded trains are one thing; unreliable reservation displays are another. Here, EAO offers an efficient and reliable solution: The latest-generation seat reservation system can be easily and seamlessly integrated into the passenger information system. Thanks to the innovative displays with their bright indicators, boarding passengers can see empty or reserved seats at a glance. This way, they know immediately where they can sit. 

To further improve passenger convenience, fast and versatile charging solutions are a key element. EAO is expanding its range with two new additions. The round tabletop chargers now deliver 15 W of power, which speeds up inductive charging of cell phones. A magnetic positioning ring securely holds compatible smartphones in place on the charger and aligns them precisely. This improves pairing and makes the charging process more efficient.

Also new to the range is a USB-C power supply with PPS and Power Delivery 3.0. It delivers up to 60 W. The charging voltage adjusts automatically: lower for smartphones, 15 to 20 V for laptops. This reduces conversion losses, shortens charging time, and preserves battery life. The corresponding USB-C ports can be flexibly mounted, for example on seatbacks or between seats. Passengers simply need to bring their own cable.
