The IP rating (Ingress Protection or International Protection) indicates the degree of protection provided by electrical enclosures against foreign particles, such as accidental contact, dust, moisture, liquids, etc. IP ratings indicate the degree to which the electrical enclosure of a device is resistant to the ingress of dust or liquids and is indicated by IP followed by two digits.
