A new ultra-thin ‘pancake’ stepper motor been launched by motion control specialists, Sanyo Denki, and is available in the UK from EAO.
With a depth of just 11.6mm, the San Motion F Series is the industry’s thinnest 2-phase stepper motor in an industry-standard 50 and 42mm frame size. It’s also very light - only 0.09Kg! Despite the compact proportions, it still produces a very high holding torque of 0.083Nm, increasing to 0.24Nm for the thicker 33.98mm version.
The high-resolution 1.8° step-angle provides excellent control over positioning. It is offered as either a unipolar or bipolar unit.
The high torque and compact storage makes it ideal for new designs in space-critical applications, particularly within the semi-conductor processing industry, and for medical inspection equipment, surveillance cameras and instrumentation.
