Industry’s first 60 and 80mm2 counter-rotating fans from EAO Ltd

05.09.2007

The first counter-rotating fans in 60 and 80mm2 frame sizes have been designed by Sanyo Denki and are available now from EAO Ltd.

The new dual, counter-rotating fans are designed to improve CFM and static pressure compared to two axial fans used in series. The San Ace 80 CR delivers a 68% higher airflow on conventionally designed fans of the same frame size: 4.53 m3/min at a static pressure of 520 Pa.

A 60mm2 version, the San Ace 60 CR, is also available from the same range. This equally impressive smaller brother delivers 2.26 m3/min at 550 Pa – an increase of 20% airflow on conventionally designed fans of the same frame size.

The technology places two fans that rotate in counter-clockwise directions in-line on the same axial core to dramatically improve airflow and static pressure.  The advantage over a standard axial fan is the excellent improvement in airflow performance around the ‘knee’ of an axial fan curve, with the counter rotating fans demonstrating a curve similar to that of a much larger, blower-style unit.

Each of the two fan motors have their own power input and individual pulse sensor alarm outputs for status monitoring. Power and noise management is available through integral PWM speed control found in each fan motor.

Counter rotating fans from the San Ace range offer a long service life of 40,000 hours at 60OC. making them suitable for servers, storage systems, power equipments, IT and telecommunication equipment.
